How to Stop Brutalizing Your Food

Chicago Kitchen Cutlery Sets

Not many people know that when you cut food you affect its flavor.  Depending on how you cut or tear your food you’ll notice a very subtle change in the flavor of your dish.  This is why some chefs choose to tear certain foods with their bare hands.  Things like vegetables, when torn instead of cut, will release more flavor into the dish if cooked for the appropriate amount of time.

On the other hand, there are times when we don’t want the food we’re processing to seep its flavor or character into anything else.  This is true of most meats.  So, the end result of your culinary creations depends largely on the quality (or lack thereof) of your kitchen cutlery sets.  Anyone who’s ever made so much as a sandwich can tell you how critical it is to have top-quality and dependable cutlery at your disposal.

Since dull blades require a greater force to achieve a cut dull knives present a much greater cut hazard in the kitchen.  This is why it’s important to check the strength of the blade of your knives.  It’s good to know precisely what the steel can tolerate before it loses its edge.  Personally, I think having a dull knife is worse than not have a knife at all!
